Carmen Arroyo

President and co-founder


Born and educated within popular culture, she has actively participated in multiple manifestations and rites that define the customs and myths of Mexico. She has directed the agenda of cultural spaces and events, teaching artistic training and traditional/intuitive cooking workshops in the Sierra Gorda region of Querétaro, training together with groups of women in savings and loan exercises with a focus on home economics. She is currently president and co-founder of El Maíz Más Pequeño AC

Henry Miller

Director and co-founder


More than twenty-five years working in the Mexican countryside from civil society, interacting directly with the rural and indigenous population, acting as an intermediary between representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, promoting and actively participating in the development of educational proposals focused on the creation of a productive and administrative generational changeover of the territory as a strategy for adaptation to climate change. He is currently director and co-founder of the civil association El Maíz Más Pequeño.

Miriam Sanchez Reyes

Degree in Political Science and Public Administration. He has participated in DIF social projects about homeless people. He collaborated with the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) in the national survey on sociodemographic dynamics. He is a teacher at the elementary and high school level. Since 2018, she has participated in El Maíz Más Pequeño AC as a researcher in sociocultural and demographic diagnostic issues, as well as in the planning and coordination of educational and community intervention projects.

Jose Alberto Ochoa Heredia

Investigator


Graduated with a degree in socio-territorial studies, a diploma in urban studies and a certificate in public management for development. He has served in public service in areas of urban and territorial development at the federal and municipal levels. Since 2018, he has participated in El Maíz Más Pequeño AC as a researcher on sociocultural and demographic diagnostic issues, as well as in the planning and coordination of cartographic and community intervention projects.

Isabel Guzman Molina

Born in the city of Queretaro. By profession an agricultural engineer and mother of two. Specialized in regenerative agriculture and agroecology. He has participated in various small-scale regenerative agriculture projects with families, teachers and youth. He runs a family agroecological production project and participates in various networks and cooperatives. Isabel has collaborated with El Maíz Más Pequeño since 2012.

Juliet Lopez Hernandez

Degree in Earth Sciences with a specialization in surface hydrology and aquatic systems. He has participated in various courses and workshops focused on integrated water management and environmental education. She has knowledge and experience in the management of Geographic Information Systems and currently works as an environmental consultant in the industrial sector, in addition to working on specific projects within El Maíz Más Pequeño AC since 2019.

Alejandra Lizarraga Pena

Master in Human Development and Food Safety from the University of Roma Tre and Graduated from the Bachelor of Dietetics and Nutrition. She is also a nutritional coach certified by Nutritional Coaching. He works as a teacher at the Incarnate Word University Center (CIW) where he teaches classes on Food and Culture and Food Systems. She worked as an international consultant in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in the department of Indigenous Peoples to resume and protect the knowledge of Traditional Food Systems, in the First Level Forum for the Empowerment of Indigenous Women for the Eradication of Hunger and Malnutrition in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as support for the Global Campaign for the Empowerment of Indigenous Women for Zero Hunger “Indigenous Women, Visible Women.” Since 2022 she has been part of the research and intervention team of El Maíz Más Pequeño on issues of food security, gender, human and community development.
